DEVCON ENTERPRISES ACQUIRES 158,953 s/f FRESHWATER COMMONS IN ENFIELD, CT.
WEST HARTFORD, CT. - DEVCON Enterprises, Inc. of West Hartford, CT. has announced the acquisition of Freshwater Commons in Enfield, CT. This is the 2nd Big Y anchored shopping center Devcon has purchased this year. Devcon is excited about its most recent acquisition due to the properties strategic location, high traffic count and superb tenant mix. Freshwater Commons is located just off I-91 at Exit 47E. This is Enfield’s newest grocer, which is conveniently located at the northeast corner of Route 190 and Palomba Drive. This is within the dynamic shopping district in the heart of Enfield. Over 2 Million square feet of national and regional tenants are located on Route 190, which is home to some of the largest retailers in the business such as Barnes & Noble, Marshalls, Staples, Bob’s Stores, Bradlees and Office Max.
The tenant roster is impressive in its variety. Tenants include the anchor, Big Y Supermarket, with over 45 stores located throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. Big Y occupies a 52,523 s/f store featuring their latest prototype with coffee and juice bar, deli counter, photo center, on-site banking facilities and food court section. Other tenants include Rite-Aid, located on a free-standing pad with a convenient drive-thru window, Hollywood Video, Frank’s Nursery & Crafts, Children’s Orchard, Citifinancial Services, and Fashion Bug. This diverse tenant mix provides one stop shopping for the residents of Enfield and beyond.
Freshwater Commons was built in 1998 with Phase II currently under construction. It is a first class center that boasts ample parking, attractive landscaping and enhanced lighting for night time shoppers. The handsome brick and column façade is both functional as a state-of-the-art shopping center, as well as aesthetically pleasing to the eye. There is currently 38,400 s/f available for lease.
The center will be maintained by Devcon’s management division.
This acquisition fits perfectly into Devcon’s expansion plans in both strategy and timing. Devcon’s focus is on the development and acquisition of grocery anchored retail shopping centers throughout the East Coast.
